Chocolate Chip Cookies

One of the best and worst things about my job are the cookies at the company cafeteria. I cannot resist the daily temptation to eat a warm, oven baked chocolate chip cookie almost everyday. Oh well, it motivates me to get my daily run or workout in every night.

On a side note. I put in my first 14 hour day of work last Friday, and it wasn't that bad. Helped a co-worker finish a project, and in a sick way, I actually enjoyed pouring over the documents!

Business Casual

So my new job requires associates dress up in at least business casual attire everyday. My company even went as far as having a presentation for new hires (people who have been here for 2 years or less are in this category) on this particular subject. The very high ranking associate giving the presentation had to point out that the tennis shoes, t-shirts, and even jeans worn by many people in attendance were not acceptable business casual attire. Fine. This speech seemed pretty obvious to me. Who in their right mind thinks it is acceptable to wear tennis shoes, a t-shirt, and jeans to a professional work environment? Well apparently, everyone my age! Many twenty-something associates proceeded to argue with the presenter about having to adhere to a business casual routine.

I cannot believe some of these people! First off, clients routinely walk around our offices. What will they think if they see associates dressed like their teenage kids? Secondly, we are in a professional work environment! Our bosses all dress up! What do you think our bosses think of associates in skater shoes? And lastly, who in their right mind argues with a high ranking associate about the dress code? Some people are crazy. I guess the current unemployment numbers don't scare some people!

Morning Commute

I had a weird morning commute yesterday. I was stuck behind an erratic driver for about 4 miles of my morning drive. The driver was swerving, speeding up and slowing down, and at times was half on the road, half on the shoulder. I guess what made the situation weird was that the guy had two parrots in the back of his car as well. They were just sitting on the top of the backseat, staring out the window. Anyway, I figured the driver was drunk or high, so decided I would pass him as soon as possible and get to work. So I finally go to pass the guy, and the next thing I know he is flipping me off and accelerating so that I would have a hard time getting in front of him. So I floored it and got in front of him and drove away. He then proceeded to tail gate me and flip me off, as well as kept coming to the side of my car. It was definitely scary. I just wanted to get to work and away from this weirdo. I would have called the cops, but I had left my cell phone at home. Eventually, I turned down a different street and got away from that guy. But all I could think about was how sad I was that those two parrots had to live with such a crazy man!

I can barely keep my eyes open today. I have had a hard time adjusting to the time zone change and a very busy work schedule. I am hoping that once I get a more established routine (that includes a little more sleep) that I won't be a complete zombie in the mornings. The problem for me is that I cannot resist watching a million tv shows when I get home from work. So instead of going to bed at a reasonable time I stay up late watching tv. Oh well, it is nothing that a little coffee and a better routine cannot fix.

Also, I cannot really complain about my situation right now. My husband has been cooking me amazing breakfasts and dinners each day. I feel spoiled getting awesome meals and a paycheck. It is funny how deprived you can truly become during law school, haha. :)

Post Law School Update

Hello everyone! Thought I would give a quick update. I am now living in a new town and working everyday. It feels awesome to actually apply what I learned in law school and receive a paycheck for my efforts! Life is good right now. I don't have anything to complain about. I work a lot, but I love it. And best of all, my husband and my puppy love our new home and life as well. Anyway, I need to stop smiling and blogging and get to work. I promise to start blogging again.

Good luck to everyone cramming for the bar exam!
