The WSJ has a great article about interview follow-up emails. A lot of us now adays use emoticons or shorthand when texting or emailing friends. Apparently, a lot of us are also using them in interview follow-up emails as well. I am sure a lot of people are not even aware that they are doing so, and if they are, they are probably not aware at how offensive many hiring managers find these practices.
